A Created People

“This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.” (Psalm 102:18)

Only God can create, and whenever this verb (Hebrew bara) is used in the Bible, the subject of the verb, either explicitly or implicitly, isGod! However, certain “progressive creationists” contend that “creation” does not have to be instantaneous, but can be a protracted process—some form of evolution. The verse above is used as a proof text for this position, the idea being that the Jewish “people” are being gradually created (“molded”) into a nation that will eventually bring praise to God.

This type of scriptural distortion illustrates the extremes to which theistic evolutionists and progressive creationists will go in order to force long evolutionary ages into Scripture. In the context, the psalmist is not speaking of a long process, but a future event. He is speaking of a future time to “have mercy upon Zion,” when “the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come” (v. 13). At that future time, “the LORD . . . shall appear in his glory” (v. 16). Then will come the glorious day “when the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD” (v. 22).

It is only then that “the people shall be created” who “shall praise the LORD.” When a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ by faith as his Creator and Savior, he does indeed become “a new [creation]” (2 Corinthians 5:17), and the miracle of regeneration is always recognized in Scripture as an instantaneous event accomplished by the Creator in the mind and heart of the believer at the time of conversion. As for the Jews who are alive when the Lord returns, “in that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David” (Zechariah 13:1). Multitudes will believe and become, at that time, “new creature[s] in Christ Jesus.” HMM

Trillions of reasons to believe in a Creator

There are trillions of reasons to believe in a supernatural, intelligent Creator. From DNA, to the basic atom, to the amazingly designed tiny fleas, to massive elephants, to the sun and its circuit, to the millions of stars and the entire universe, there is incredible complexity and order throughout creation. Let’s say you were walking along a beach and saw a message written in the sand: “Johnny, Make sure you come home at 5:00 p.m. for dinner. See you then. I love you. Mom.” Could you ever believe that the order of the words happened by a random process—by sheer accident? Could you conclude that perhaps the incoming waves left the words written in the sand? I seriously doubt it. Their very order and their constructed logical coherency tell you that the message was written by an intelligent mind. However, atheistic evolution takes an even greater leap away from common sense than just believing that a wave created a logical message. It says that there was absolutely nothing—no sand, no beach, or wave. It maintains that nothing created the sand and the waves. Such thoughts are totally illogical and are a departure from the laws of science. Something cannot come from nothing. If it did, then it wasn’t “nothing.” It was some sort of creative force.

A Fuss Over Dust: Planck Satellite Fails to Confirm Big Bang 'Proof'

...With so many such defeated proofs littering the scientific landscape (Piltdown Man, vestigial organs, the supposed missing link "Ida," smoking gun evidence for the Big Bang, etc.), one would think that Christians would learn not to be so intimidated by the dogmatic claims of secular scientists. Yet many Christians are still reluctant to question the scientific "high priests" of the new secular religion and can only bring themselves to meekly suggest, against all logic and common sense, that perhaps such claims don't really contradict the Bible after all! This recent debacle should encourage Christians to toughen up and exhibit a little hard-nosed skepticism the next time scientists announce the latest "proof" for their theories. After all, aren't secular scientists always telling us that skepticism is a virtue?...

The Man Born Blind

“And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” (John 9:2-3)

Mankind has always found it easy to fall into the trap of thinking that suffering of any sort is due to sin. To be sure, much suffering is due to sin, and even after repentance and forgiveness, scars may remain. Furthermore, evil and its attendant grief surround us. Our civilization is plagued by sin and its evil fruits—some of which reach even the most godly Christian. Indeed, “the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain” (Romans 8:22) as a result of the curse brought about by sin. If there had been no sin, there would have been no suffering.

But this does not imply that all personal suffering stems from personal sin. The blind man was the way he was to bring glory to God, we are told. Although many at the time failed to recognize “the works of God” when this man was healed, countless millions have glorified God throughout the centuries for this act of creation.

Now some may ask, how could God have been glorified in this grown man’s life of blindness up until his healing? Actually, all life is a miracle, even the single-cell amoeba. Nothing living could possibly have arisen by accident, and as such testifies to the marvelous “works of God.” In this case, the item of interest was a human being, complete with fully functioning organs and systems. Even though he could not see, he could smell, taste, hear, speak, touch, move, walk, eat, breathe, digest, think, etc. This could not be the result of time and chance acting on “primeval slime,” as the evolutionist would claim. Any living system points to a loving Designer. Those who “willingly are ignorant” (2 Peter 3:5) of such facts are more blind than the Pharisees. JDM

Cambrian Fossil Intensifies Evolutionary Conundrum

New fossil finds further verify one of evolution's biggest problems: the Cambrian explosion. According to evolutionary reckoning, a massive explosion of new life supposedly spawned dozens of brand-new fully formed body plans about 530 million years ago. How could so many novel body plans emerge in such a short time while today's emergence rate of new body plans is zero? Details from newly discovered Canadian fossil fish intensify this Cambrian conundrum.

Very few fossils show up in rock layers below the Cambrian—some sponges, cnidarians, a mollusk, what look like worm trails, and several fossils now reclassified as non-animals, known as the Ediacaran fauna. Then, suddenly, most of the basic animal forms occur in Cambrian rocks, including echinoderms (e.g., starfish), various arthropods including shrimp and sea scorpions, clams, brachiopods, annelid worms, and chordates—a group of animals including vertebrates like fish.

This fossil pattern falls afoul of evolutionary expectations. Simpler animals in lower rocks, from supposedly earlier times, evolved into more complicated animals like chordates and those should appear in upper rock layers according to evolution. Instead, most fundamental animal forms classified as phyla, occur in lower Cambrian strata. In other words, instead of a slow and gradual appearance of new life forms, the fossils show just the opposite: the sudden appearance of fully-formed creatures.

...So, fully formed fish occur in both Chinese and Canadian Cambrian layers. This means the evolutionary problem of the Cambrian explosion is real and intense.

Reams of new information in the form of biological coding, represented by dozens of novel cell types in Cambrian fossils, demand a reasonable cause. A Precambrian sponge would have had five cell types, but the Cambrian fish had 60 cell types, equivalent to an encyclopedia of brand-new biological information.

Plus, over 67 percent of animal phyla have their lowest occurrence in the Cambrian. That's a lot of new animals suddenly appearing fully formed, and those same body plans have not changed.

If evolution is not adding new suites of biological information to any of today's creatures, then how could it have added so much, so fast, so long ago? Whereas the Canadian Cambrian fish Metaspriggina certainly punctuates this longstanding and unanswered challenge to evolution's defenders, it follows nicely from the biblical concept that Cambrian rocks represent the first of many Flood deposits, burying creatures that God had purposely fashioned.

Bible May Solve Colossal Ancient Iceberg Riddle

What is the recipe for making an iceberg? Scientists know the basics from watching polar-ice sheets. Huge chunks calve, slide off, and float away as icebergs. But that’s for modern icebergs. New research reveals evidence of ancient icebergs that would dwarf today’s frozen floating mountains, leaving secular explanations out in the cold.

Researchers from Germany’s Alfred-Wegener Institute (AWI), Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, published in Geophysical Research Letters their discovery of five deep scours at almost 4,000 feet below sea level and about 250 miles off Greenland’s eastern coast at Hovgaard Ridge. There, the Fram Strait permits polar ice to enter one of the world’s larger oceans, an annual process that helps regulate marine ecosystems and global weather patterns.

...Oceans had to have heated fast enough to encourage extreme evaporation. Only then could enough water evaporate into the atmosphere where it would cool, and then fall on the continents and add to an ice sheet. Creation geologists cite dramatic increases in volcanic activity across the entire ocean floor during Noah’s Flood to supply this heat.

Assuming a biblical timeline, massive amounts of volcanic activity took place during the Flood year and immediately afterward. The volcanic ash from these eruptions would have blocked out enough solar radiation to cool the atmosphere for hundreds of years after the Flood waters subsided—just what was needed to form the thick ice sheets that existed during the centuries-long ice age.

Secular models don’t work because they separate heating events like underwater volcanic eruptions too far apart in time. Given a timescale of hundreds of years, not millions, rapid sequential volcanoes could produce the heat required to build giant ice sheets—and the colossal icebergs that Arndt’s research indicates they calved.

Are We Evolving Stupidity?

Are we dumber than our grandparents?

Social psychologists are tracking IQ scores and noticed a decline in the last decade after a steady rise since the 1950s. Some wonder if the recent downturn reflects genes that have been eroding all along. Are we evolving stupidity?

...Decent nutrition and education may have done all the good they can for intelligence, but those factors can’t erase the accumulated mutations, let alone increase our genetic potential for greater intelligence. This preserves Lynch’s “rather stark picture” of a world population that will continue, according to Holmes, “evolving to be more stupid.”

Is there any way to reverse this gloomy forecast? Holmes wrote, “The only way to stop that might be to tinker with our genomes. Given our ignorance about the genetic basis of intelligence, and the ethical complexities, that is a long way off.”

Basically, someone would need to restore every mutation inherited from every generation. For this task, Mankind has far too little knowledge and power. It could only be done by the One who wrote the original and pristine human genome in the first place.

Declining IQ scores, and the harmful mutations that likely cause them, powerfully confirm Scripture that teaches “the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”

The Sun

“Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.” (Psalm 19:5-6)

 

This well-loved psalm provides us a glimpse of God’s creative majesty: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge” (vv. 1-2).

 

Modern science has shown that the universe in which we live is really a tri-universe—a continuum of space/time/energy (or information). Thus, the first two verses of this psalm, by focusing our attention on “the heavens . . . the firmament” (space), “day . . . night” (time), and “speech . . . knowledge” (information/energy), reveal a scientific truth long before its “scientific” discovery.

 

There is, of course, one created source of energy which typifies this energy. Speaking of space and time, the psalmist claims, “In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun” (v. 4), which is further described in our text verses. The sun is like a bridegroom, fully dressed in wedding garb, radiating joy as he comes forth. It is also like a champion runner, fully able to run the race and gain the victory.

 

The sun’s energy, radiating out in all directions, not only energizes the earth but the entire solar system as well. Furthermore, it is now known that the sun traverses the galaxy in a gigantic orbit with its energy bathing each part. Truly, “there is nothing hid from the heat thereof” (text verse).

 

Only the Creator of space, time, and energy—the Creator of the sun, the solar system, the Milky Way galaxy, and the universe—could have known these things. That Creator, through the empowering ministry of the Holy Spirit, is the author of this psalm. JDM

New Giant Dinosaur from Argentina

Tango anyone?

Scientists described a new and remarkable fossil skeleton of a giant titanosaur, a group that includes the largest creatures ever to have lived on land. Dinosaur enthusiasts of all backgrounds want to know how big it was and what it may have looked like. Because this specimen is nearly 45 percent complete, it gives more details than any other fossil of its kind, as well as some details that confirm the biblical creation model.

This specimen was so large that probably nothing could stand in its way or even threaten it. For this reason, the researchers publishing in the journal Scientific Reports named itDreadnoughtus schrani, after the Old English word "dreadnaught" which means "fear nothing."

And none of the huge bones were misshapen or out of place. In other words, theDreadnoughtus skeleton looks like it was expertly crafted—obviously created—with none of the half-formed features that one would expect evolution to have left in its eons-long wake.

How could Noah have squeezed two Dreadnoughtus individuals onto the Ark? Many object to this notion, asserting that the Ark must have been too small for such great creatures. But even titanosaurids hatched from an egg only about six inches in length.

Still anatomically young at 85 feet, this creature could have been growing for a long time, growing quickly, or both. Either way, a smaller and younger juvenile would have fit on the Ark just fine, as amply demonstrated in the book Noah's Ark: a Feasibility Study.

A muddy tidal wave inundating an elephant herd-sized dinosaur fits the Flood. And like the well-formed anatomy of an elephant, that of Dreadnoughtus reminds the thoughtful observer that dinosaurs were created, just like in Genesis.

Decoding Snake-Venom Origins

The origin of snake venom has long been a mystery to both creationists and evolutionists. However, by stepping outside the standard research paradigm, scientists recently showed that snake venom proteins may have arisen from existing salivary proteins.

The Bible indicates that at the beginning of creation, God's handiwork was not fraught with death, disease, and violence. Because of Adam and Eve's rebellion, creation became subject to all of these negative factors, including snakes with toxic venom. The question then arises of how the curse on creation brought about these deadly changes. Were new genes of malicious intent added by the Creator, or was pre-existing genetic information corrupted or altered in some way? According to what we know about genomic decay and the character of God as revealed in the Bible, it is more likely that genomic modification, possibly associated with degradation (genetic entropy), was the cause.

...Perhaps the most amazing statement made by the authors of this secular research paper was a sound rebuke of the standard evolutionary reasoning. They state, "Our findings highlight the problem of 'just-so stories' in evolutionary biology, especially when they reach the point of being considered established fact." 

It appears that some scientists are beginning to understand that the neo-Darwinian model actually limits the progress of research instead of advancing it. It also appears some secular scientists are brave enough to now seriously question long entrenched evolutionary explanations.(All emphasis added)

God is the creator of all that your hand can touch, your eye can see, your ears can hear, and your nose can smell. If you see a watch, I hope you assume there’s a watchmaker. And if you see the precise atomic flux of the universe, I hope that you don’t believe that happened by chance.

Evolutionists believe that if you take billions of years and add time plus chance, that you can turn frogs into princes. In school they call that fairy tales. In the laboratory they call it science.

Darwin vs. Genetics: Surprises and Snags in the Science of Common Ancestry

For over 150 years, Darwin’s hypothesis that all species share a common ancestor has dominated the creation-evolution debate. Surprisingly, when Darwin wrote his seminal work, he had no direct evidence for these genealogical relationships—he knew nothing about DNA sequences. In fact, before the discovery of the structure and function of DNA, obtaining direct scientific evidence for common ancestry was impossible. Now, with online databases full of DNA-sequence information from thousands of species, the direct testing of Darwin’s hypothesis has finally commenced. What follows is a critical reevaluation of the four major lines of genetic evidence that secular scientists use to support evolutionary common ancestry.

Darwin was completely ignorant of the biological role of DNA when he penned his theory a century and a half ago. Now the evolutionary case from genetics is unravelling at multiple levels because it was never based on any direct evidence for common ancestry in the first place. Do the evolutionists have any lines of genetic evidence left? Evolution fails to predict either the absolute number or the function of genetic differences among species. This is remarkable since the supposed “engine” of evolutionary change is the genetic mistakes themselves. 'Smoking Gun' Proof of Big Bang Already In Doubt

In March 2014, a team of radio astronomers using the BICEP2 telescope announced purported direct evidence for inflation, an important part of the Big Bang model.  But only two months after this “discovery” a number of secular scientists have become increasingly skeptical.

...Inflation expert Paul Steinhardt (who has himself become increasingly critical of the inflation theory) said, “At this time, I think the fair thing to say is that you cannot claim detection [of the ‘inflation’ signal] – period.” This should serve as a reminder to Christians of the dangers in embracing secular origins stories. Dramatic “proofs” of the evolutionary story that are trumpeted in the media will eventually be shown to be false, and sometimes this happens much sooner than later.(All emphasis added)

“After His Kind,” Not Another Kind

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
In Genesis 1:11-12 we read, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good”. 

ACTION POINT:
If evolution is true, then one specie would have to evolve into another specie, and if that is true, then you would expect to find transitional forms of life. You hear talk about the “missing link.” May I tell you, the whole chain is missing!

What do you believe about the origin of creation?

I think, by now, it should be obvious what I believe, but in case it isn't I'll say just this: 

1) The Holy Bible is God's inerrant Word and I believe every single word of it, including a literal 6-day creation. I take my Creator at His Word, He says what He means and means what He says. There are no grey areas, it's all or nothing. 

"God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That Thou mightest be justified in Thy sayings, and mightest overcome when Thou art judged." Romans 3:4

2) I believe evolution is Satan's "science" and "religion" all rolled into one and that only a fool, false convert and/or a rank, rebellious sinner would even consider believing a single word of that swill. ~ Pilgrim

Octopus Skin Inspires High-Tech Camouflage Fabric

...First, the octopus must detect the color of its surroundings, and in this human-engineered material photodiodes and multiplexing switches sense background patterns. In a 44-page supplement to the PNAS article, the authors listed 76 distinct steps required to fabricate their photodetector array and 74 steps to fabricate the diode array. Additional steps combine these arrays into the final product.

But all this ingenuity still pales in comparison to living octopus technology.

A Newsy online video quoted one of the PNAS study authors as having told National Geographic, "As an engineer looking at movies of squid, octopuses, and cuttlefish, you just [realize] that you're not going to get close to that level of sophistication."

If a single fabrication step fails to occur, then the man-made color changing fabric would not function, illustrating the focused intent required to bring the design from concept to seamlessly functioning reality. How much more does the construction of octopus skin with its superior, higher-resolution, full-color fabric—that even heals itself—illustrate the focus and intent of a sophisticated genius Maker? New Finds Reveal Fully-Human Neandertal

The case for Neandertals as more primitive members of an evolutionary continuum that spans from apes to modern man continues to weaken. Genetic and archaeological finds are completely reshaping modern concepts of Neandertal men and women.

Researchers interested in unraveling humanity's past recently sequenced a female Neandertal's ancient DNA and published their results in Nature. The research included sequences that closely matched: Neandertal, Denisovan, modern man, plus an unidentified variation of man. The study authors suspected that these different groups interbred. Just as prior studies showed, this one confirmed that similarities between Neandertal and other human DNA sequences place "Miss Neandertal" inside human kind.

In the context of biblical history, ancient families founded tribes and nations soon after their dispersal from the Tower of Babel. It appears these ancient people showed much wider variation in genetic and physical differences than the more limited range found across today's human populations. If accurate, then we would fully expect Neandertal peoples to have been able to interbreed with other post-Babel peoples.

Archaeology also confirms this biblical perspective. Though about 40 Neandertal graves show intentional and ritual burial rites, many scientists remain intent on defending their long-held position that Neandertals were too primitive—too ape-like—to bury their dead so reverently. They ask for more proof(???) that the Neandertal remains had not been altered after death to merely give the appearance of non-accidental burial.

The Dallas Morning News recently reported that a group of Ph.D. scientists is swimming against the flow of the broader scientific community. Instead of believing in millions of years of evolution, the team at the Institute for Creation Research dares to suggest that science confirms biblical creation's view of a world only thousands of years old. And there's more to the story.

Appearing in the online edition, the article featured a short video with the caption, "A team of paleontologists, geologists, astrophysicists and geneticists at the Institute for Creation Research have been working a decade to prove the biblical story of Genesis is scientifically true."

For the sake of accuracy, ICR has no paleontologists. However, in addition to the other disciplines listed, we have a nuclear physicist who spent time at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, a Professional Engineer who was also a former Air Force flight surgeon and Chief of Aerospace Medicine, a Harvard biologist who specialized in stem cell research, and other scientists and scholars with advanced degrees.

Also, we actually have been working for over four decades—not just one—and our mission has not been to "prove" the Bible but to uncover the compelling evidence that supports it.

Did Adam Really Live 930 Years?

Genesis 5:5 says Adam lived for 930 years. Judging by today’s standards, this sounds impossible. Many contemporary readers of Genesis balk at such numbers and some end up rejecting the whole Bible. But a few researchers have found reasons to believe it.

Plant geneticist Dr. John Sanford and his colleagues plotted the ages of the biblical patriarchs listed in Genesis. The result shows a systematic drop-off in lifespans after 950-year-old Noah, “in a way that could never happen by chance,” according to an online post showing their results.

...The authors of the post wrote, “The lifespan data indicates [sic] that the extreme longevity of the early Patriarchs was real, and that the rapid decline of longevity after the Flood was real.”

And if the patriarch’s lifespans were real, then the verses that record and refer to them accurately describe real history.(Emphasis added)
